New Design Launched

Welcome one and all to the brand new design of Cogroll. I know I recently updated the old design but I thought it was time for a complete refresh. What do you think? Do you like it? I’ve done my best to get it smoothly integrated but if you encounter any problems be sure to drop a comment here, or contact me from the contact form.

I guess this is also a good time to announce that I will soon be hosting the first ever Cogroll domain giveaway. It’s going to be a pretty unique contest so watch this space! Subscribe to the Newsletter or RSS updates to get notification when it begins.

The Gift of Personalized Email

December is now upon us and the Christmas rush has begun. This year you’ve promised yourself you will buy everyone great gifts, but finding the right gift is always tough. So what’s the answer? I recently found myself pondering some gift ideas for family and in my internet oriented mindset came up with a personalized email address.

It’s nothing new for most, having a personalized email like me@myname.com is now industry standard. However for those outside the industry, a personalized email address can be very impressive and exciting. Presenting a not so savvy family member with a theirname@surname.com email address is sure to get a great response.

Notice anything new?

I’ve been busy all afternoon making tweaks to the layout and design. Most of the design has remained the same but a noticeable update is the logo, which you can find at the very top of the page. What are your thoughts on the design tweaks and the new logo?

Another new thing that I’ve been working on is the Changes page. Here you will find information about what is coming in the near future at Cogroll. It holds some important reading as it expands on why soon some of Cogroll’s content will be restricted to members only. Please subscribe to the mailing list (on the right hand side) to make sure you don’t miss your opportunity to become a member. Registration for membership is strictly limited!

And finally, a reminder that the old feed will be terminated in just over 4 hours (2200 GMT) so make sure you subscribe to the new feed http://feeds2.feedburner.com/cogroll to get all the latest content.

Effective Domain Name for a Web Host

After much thought I have decided upon an available domain name to share for the first article of Cogroll’s return. There’s no great concept behind the name, it’s just an effective and descriptive name for a web hosting service.

Cogroll Returns

Following an extensive leave of absence I am returning to my pensive ways and will be turning my focus to Cogroll once more. A variety of excuses could be used for this absence but the main factor is my recent relocation to France. Excuses aside, I will be doing some reshuffling of Cogroll. I will open a mailing list very soon to keep everyone informed so please keep your eyes peeled as you won’t want to miss any of the announcements.

So the reincarnation of Cogroll is underway. The first change you can expect is a new RSS feed. I will be terminating the old feed in just 24 hours so please don’t forget to update to the new one supplied by FeedBurner. You can find it at http://feeds2.feedburner.com/cogroll - you can also subscribe through the little robot over there on the right hand side.

Just to reiterate, the old feed will cease to exist at 22:00 GMT December 3rd so please subscribe to the new feed so you don’t miss the upcoming surge of ideas.

As always your thoughts, comments, ideas and opinions are welcome. What would you like to see in the coming days, weeks and months at Cogroll? The comments section is open to everyone, you don’t even need to register! Yet.

Twitter Service Domain

There’s a huge audience available on Twitter and as such there are a huge number of websites and business taking advantage of this fact. Taking an otherwise normal service and applying a Twitter touch to it seems to be a sure fire way of bringing in the traffic. Today’s concept and subsequent domain falls into that classification.

Ad Marketplace

The recent influx of digital advertising marketplaces such as AdBrite, Text-Link-Ads and others means that today’s site owner has a huge selection of advertising options, either as an advertiser or a publisher. One thing that all these have in common though is that they take a cut of your profits for the service. What if there was a way for advertisers and publishers to meet and engage without paying huge percentages to the matchmaker?

Brandable 5-Letter Designer Domain

As promised in my previous post I would like to present the first brainchild from my search for new online company names. It is a short domain sitting at just 5 letters in length and is very memorable, as well as apt and brandable for the design industry.
